The mercury is set to rise in Burton, South Derbyshire and Uttoxeter as the area basks in another sizzling bank holiday weekend.

Hot on the heels of the last Bank Holiday on Monday, May 7 where temperatures soared up to 22C , this weekend could be even hotter.

That might not feel the case heading into it, with heavy rain expected at some points on Friday, particularly in the early morning, with at least a 60 per cent chance of rain up to 10am.

According to the Met Office , there should be highs of 15C by 4pm but temperatures should not be lower than 12C all day.

However, on Saturday, apart from light rain at around 7am, it will be a mostly cloudy and partially sunny day, with the warmest temperature at 4pm of 20C.

Sunday should be the warmest day of the weekend, with 24C forecast in the early afternoon, with a less than 10 per cent chance of rain for most of the day. Temperatures should not drop below 20C until 10pm.

Cloudy skies should be expected throughout Monday, with highs of 21C at 4pm and lows of 13C in the early morning, with a 10 per cent chance of rain for most the day.

For the coming working week, the warm temperatures could continue into Tuesday, with 22C in the later afternoon and a low chance of rain for most of the day.
