A man who committed a string driving offences has been sent to prison. He was among the latest criminals to have their cases dealt with at Southern Derbyshire Magistrates' Court:

Driving offences

A man has admitted a series of driving offences. Walter Benn, 32, of Napier Street, Burton, admitted driving a Nissan Almera in Waterside Road, Stapenhill, on July 8, while banned from driving and without insurance, otherwise than in accordance with a licence, and while the vehicle was unlicensed.
He has been jailed for 20 weeks because he breached previous orders and the offences were committed while on licence from a previous sentence. He was ordered to pay £115 victim surcharge.

Alcohol case

A man has admitted drink-driving. Miroslaw Dolinny, 56, of Park Street, Burton, admitted driving a Proton Impian in Wellington Road, Burton, on July 4, with 43 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath. The legal limit is 35 microgrammes. He also admitted driving without insurance.
He has been fined £120 and ordered to pay £85 court costs and a £30 victim surcharge. He was banned from driving for 14 months.

Drink case

A man has admitted drink-driving. Silviu Mardare, 26, of Derby Street, Burton, admitted driving a Renault Megane in Union Street, Burton, on July 1, with 52 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath. The legal limit is 35 microgrammes. He also admitted driving without insurance and otherwise than in accordance with a licence.
He has been fined £280 and ordered to pay £85 court costs and a £30 victim surcharge. He was banned from driving for 16 months.

Theft

A man has admitted theft. Paul Turner, 35, of Grange Street, Burton.
Admitted stealing one roll of welding wire worth £14.40 in Burton on January 10.
He has been fined £80 and ordered to pay £85 court costs and a £30 victim surcharge.

Shoplifter

A man has admitted shoplifting. Daryl Winkler, 34, of Waterside Road, Burton, admitted stealing meat worth £78.60 from Sainsbury’s, in Branston Road, Burton, on June 7.
He has been made the subject of a 12 month conditional discharge. He was ordered to pay £78.60 compensation, £85 court costs and a £20 victim surcharge.
