A Burton convenience store has been targeted in an alleged robbery this morning, Tuesday, July 11. A man is in custody after being arrested on suspicion of robbery.

Staffordshire Police were called to Ash News Food and Wine, in Uxbridge Street, just before 5.30pm yesterday, Monday, July 10, following an incident at the location.

No-one was injured in the incident and nothing was stolen from the store.

Initial inquiries led to the arrest of a 24-year-old man, from Burton, on suspicion of robbery. He was taken into custody and will be questioned.

An investigation into the incident is now under way and witnesses are asked to contact police on 101, quoting incident 670 of July 10, or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555111.
