A man found dead a house in Stretton died from a 'blunt' head injury, police have confirmed.

Staffordshire Police has now named the man who was found dead at an address in Main Street as Francis Lovelock, who was know as Frank. The 64-year-old lived at the address.

Officers were called to his home at 8.15pm on Saturday, July 29, and found Mr Lovelock’s body inside. His death is being treated as suspicious.

A post-mortem examination carried out yesterday, Monday, July 31, revealed the cause of his death as a head injury.

The 41-year-old man arrested in connection with the death has been released by police while investigations continue.

A detailed investigation into the circumstances of the death is ongoing, and officers want to hear from anyone with information, said a spokesman.

Officers are continuing to appeal for witnesses to a disturbance which happened five days earlier in Stretton on Tuesday, July 25 at The Green during that late evening. They are investigating whether this is linked.

There remains a police presence in the area and anyone with concerns is encouraged to approach an officer.
