A woman has been airlifted to hospital following a collision in a Burton street.

The woman, in her 60s, was a pedestrian and the incident happened at the junction of Watson Street and Branston Road.

West Midlands Ambulance Service confirmed it had been called out to the incident after receiving a report of a collision at 11.12am today, Friday, July 7.

The woman was treated on the floor at the scene before being transferred to a land ambulance. She was later taken by Midlands Air Ambulance to Royal Stoke University Hospital, suffering with pelvic and leg injuries.

She was fully conscious throughout and was given pain relief. Her injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

Midlands Air Ambulance, from Tatenhill, was on the scene. A land ambulance and a paramedic officer were also called out.

A spokesman for West Midlands Ambulance Service said: "We were called out to a road traffic collision at 11.12am at the junction of Watson Street and Branston Road, in Burton. We received a call that the incident involved a car and a pedestrian."
