A 49-year-old pervert has been hit with strict conditions to monitor his internet use after he was caught making indecent images of a child.

For the next five years Paul Spencer must produce evidence of his internet search history when required to do so by police or he faces being banned from surfing the web.

He is also not allowed to possess software which is capable of deleting internet history.

Spencer appeared at Southern Derbyshire Magistrates' Court where he admitted one charge of making five indecent photographs of a child – category C, in Burton, between January 1, 2015, and June 29, 2017.

Spencer, of Watermeadow Road, Alvaston, Derby, has been made the subject of a two-year community order with a three-month curfew. He was also ordered to pay £85 court costs and a £85 victim surcharge.

He has also been made the subject of a sexual harm prevention order for five years.

The order

While the order is in force the defendant is subject to several prohibitions: The defendant is prohibited from

1. Using or possessing any device capable of accessing the internet unless a) it has the capacity to retain and display the history of internet use; and b) he makes such device available upon request for examination by police and allows it to be taken by police for the purpose of examination.

2. Deleting the history of internet access and use from any device capable of accessing the internet, which he uses, possesses or has possessed.

3. Acquiring, installing or using on any device capable of accessing the internet which he uses or possesses, any software which is capable of destroying or deleting the history of internet use or which is designed to encrypt data held on such a device.

4. Possessing any device capable of storing images unless he makes it available upon request for examination by police, for the purposes of such examination.
