This is the image of the man police want to speak to after car was set fire to and the blaze spread to two homes in a Burton street. Staffordshire Police are now appealing for witnesses following the deliberate fire which happened in Thornley Street, Burton.

A white-coloured Vauxhall Corsa parked in Thornley Street, was deliberately set on fire, which then spread to two neighbouring homes.

The car was completely burned out and the two houses sustained significant fire damage to doors and windows. Nobody was hurt in the incident.

At the time, a witness reported seeing a man with a carrier bag walk along Thornley Street on the same side as the car from the direction of Stafford Street just after 11.45pm. The witness said he got into the car through the front passenger door and set light to the vehicle, before running back towards Stafford Street.

The incident took place at around 11.30pm on Tuesday, June 27, and an appeal appeared in the Burton Mail the following day. However, police have now launched a re-appeal along with issuing a photo of the man they want to speak to in connection with the incident.

A spokesman for the police said: "A man holding a carrier bag walked along the street and set fire to a Vauxhall Corsa, which then resulted in damage to two dwellings. He then walked off in the direction of Goodman Street.

"The suspect is described as an Asian male, of stocky build, approximately 6ft in height and with a black beard. He was wearing a baseball cap, gloves and overalls.
