An armed robber carrying a knife has raided the Spar shop in Repton. A quantity of cash was taken from the store, in High Street, by the man who entered at around 3.30pm on Thursday, August 17.

A worker from the store, who was not in the shop at the time, said the employee who had the knife pointed at him was feeling shaken up by the incident.

The staff member said: "A man came in wielding a knife and demanded money. The member of staff who was here is quite understandably very shaken about it."

Derbyshire Police attended the incident and a crime investigation team was seen at the business.

The shop was closed to customers for around three hours while police investigations took place, and reopened at 6.30pm after Derbyshire Police had completed their work.

A spokesman for Derbyshire Police explained what happened on Thursday afternoon.

He said: "We responded to reports of a robbery at the Spar shop, in Repton, at 3.30pm on Thursday, August 17. A man allegedly entered the store and threatened the staff with a knife. They took a sum of money."

Derbyshire Police are appealing for any witnesses or anybody with information to come forward. Anyone who does have information should call the non-emergency 101 number, quoting incident number 17000352375 of August 17.
