Here at the Burton Mail we were shocked to learn about the theft of a charity collection box at Salon 9, in Wellington Street, Burton.
Staff at Salon 9 and Stretton Day Nursery had joined forces to raise money for their sponsored skydive taking place on Sunday, July 9.
Just days ahead of their charity challenge, the donation box was stolen from the reception of the hairdressers by a couple they mistook for clients.
The money was destined for a cancer charity, to help those with the disease to fight, instead it has gone into the pockets of thieves willing to stoop about as low as it gets.
The theft is heartless, and we hope both the salon and the nursery can rebuild funds again to donate towards Cancer Research UK.
Hopefully the local police force can work together to bring these shameful offenders to justice.
