Three cars crashing on the A38 caused traffic chaos in Burton stretching all the way back into Burton.

Vehicles were caught up in gridlock for more than two hours following the accident at 4.30pm on the A38 northbound side at Egginton on Tuesday, July 18.

A Derbyshire Police spokesman said the collision involved a Volkswagen Polo, Toyota Aygo and Vauxhall Corsa. No-one was seriously injured.

Drivers were urged to avoid the area after tailbacks stretching back into Burton were being reported.

The incident happened around the Church Road area of the A38 and traffic and travel information website Inrix reported that there was congestion to the Claymills junction.

The cars were later recovered and the incident was cleared by 6.45pm.
