Three cars have been involved in a crash on Burton Bridge in the town centre.

Police officers and paramedics were on the bridge dealing with the incident, but have now left the scene.

A white Audi, silver Volkswagen and a blue Ford C-Max have been involved in the crash, police say. The incident happened at around 9.15am this the morning on Wednesday, September 13.

The collision is not believed to be serious, and police say that nobody has been seriously injured in the incident.

An eye witness said: "Three cars have just gone into the back of each other. It doesn't look too serious. I hope no-one is hurt."

A spokesman from Staffordshire Police said: "Please avoid the area of Burton Bridge on Ashby Road as there has been a three vehicle traffic collision.

"An ambulance has arrived to treat those affected, although we don't believe there are any serious injuries."

No lanes were closed as a result of the incident, and traffic was not affected.

The bridge is especially busy at the moment due to the closure of St Peter's Bridge for essential repair work.
