A three-vehicle crash on the A38 at a busy turn-off is causing major delays for rush hour commuters this afternoon. The incident, which has taken place on the B5016 for the Barton under Needwood and Walton-on-Trent turn off, is near to Barton Turns and involved a transit van which is now blocking two lanes.

Officers from Staffordshire Police are on the scene. A spokesman said: "We were called at 4.15pm to a three vehicle road traffic collision."

It is not yet known how many people were involved and if there are any injuries.

Drivers are also being warned of temporary traffic lights at a major Burton junction, which are causing disruption.

The traffic lights system by Sainsbury's supermarket, in Union Street, is currently turned off and is causing problems for drivers, already having to deal with the impact of the closure of St Peter's Bridge.

Highways England is attending the junction, which connects Union Street, Guild Street and Station Street.

The Burton Mail have contacted Staffordshire County Council for information on the traffic lights.
