A broken down vehicle on a slip-road off the northbound carriageway of the M1 caused delays for drivers this morning.

The incident happened at Junction 23A A42/A453 at around 8.10am and one lane was blocked.

Delays were made worse by ongoing roadworks in the area.

Traffic flow has returned to normal and vehicles are moving freely in the area.

One driver, who is stuck in a queue of traffic near Castle Donington, said the area is gridlocked.
