Motorists are facing further roads disruption today as a set of traffic lights at a major junction in Burton town centre failed.

The traffic lights system by Sainsbury's supermarket , in Union Street, is currently turned off and is causing problems for drivers, already having to deal with the impact of the closure of St Peter's Bridge.

Highways England is attending the junction, which connects Union Street, Guild Street and Station Street.

It comes after the closure of St Peter's Bridge earlier this month which is causing major disturbance across Burton with motorists attempting to find alternative routes as they are forced to endure major tailbacks.

The bridge was closed earlier this month and is reopen at the end of November.

The Burton Mail have contacted Staffordshire County Council for information on the traffic lights.
