Two men were stabbed outside a fast-food takeaway as its staff stepped in to call 999, say police.

Staffordshire officers have launched an investigation following a serious incident last night, Thursday, January 4, outside the Lahore Grill, in Waterloo Street, Burton.

A police spokesman said the incident happened outside the takeaway.

Police officers were called by West Midlands Ambulance Service just before 7.55pm to reports that two men were being taken to hospital with stab wounds.

One allegedly suffered stab wounds to his hand and another to his back and hand. None of the injuries were said to be life threatening.

One man has been taken to Burton's Queen's Hospital, and the other was taken to the Royal Derby Hospital.

Police have arrested two men, aged 26 and 35, both from Burton.

They have been arrested on suspicion of assault causing actual bodily harm. The 26-year-old man has been released under investigation.
