This is the shocking moment a woman narrowly avoids being run down after stumbling into the path of an on-coming van in Burton.

The footage has been released to the Burton Mail by Eugene Soch whose rear dash cam captures a van being forced to brake hard as the driver tries to avoid hitting the woman.

It happened in Horninglow Street at its junction with Hawkins Lane, on Monday, July 9.

The rear dash cam in Eugene's vehicle shows a woman on the pavement wearing shorts, slip-on shoes and a black vest top.

A woman has a lucky escape after stumbling in the road in Burton

She suddenly stumbles into the road and seems to trip over, causing her to lose a shoe.

An approaching white van brakes immediately, the quick reactions of the driver ensuring the woman was not injured.

The woman then quickly moves herself to the edge of the road and sits on the pavement before putting her shoe on and picking herself up.

She then joins a man with a pushchair who can be seen waving at the van driver as if to thank him.
