A man has been jailed after admitting stealing razor blades from a Burton shop. He was among the ltest people to appear at Southern Derbyshire Magistrates' Court to have his case dealt with.

Shoplifter

A man has admitted shoplifting. Leon Marshall, 38, of Broadway Street, Burton, admitted stealing razor blades worth £48 from Wilkos, in Burton, on May 25. He has been jailed for six weeks due to his prolific record for similar offences. The offence was committed while he was subject to post-sentence supervision. He was also ordered to pay a £115 victim surcharge.

Vodka theft

A man has admitted stealing vodka. Anthony Maughan, 18, of East Street, Leicester, admitted stealing a bottle of vodka worth £28 from Sainsbury’s, in Swadlincote, on March 17, and a bottle of vodka worth £20 from the same shop, on April 18. He also admitted breaching a conditional discharge. He has been made the subject of a community order and ordered to carry out 130 hours unpaid work. He has also been ordered to pay a total of £48 in compensation and £85 court costs.

Harassment case

A man has admitted harassment. Ghulam Murtza, 31, of South Broadway Street, Burton, admitted pursuing a course of conduct which amounted to the harassment of four people in Burton between January 24 and March 6, by making repeated abusive and threatening phone calls. He has been made the subject of a three-month community order with a 12-week curfew, and a restraining order. He was ordered to pay £400 court costs and a £85 victim surcharge.

Theft charge

A man has admitted shoplifting. Philip Holt, 49, of London Road, Alvaston, admitted stealing various electrical accessories worth £198 from Asda, in Burton, on May 10. He has been made the subject of a 12-month conditional discharge. He was ordered to pay £85 court costs and a £20 victim surcharge.

Breach of order

A man has admitted breaching a court order. Jeffrey Taylor, 28, of Salisbury Drive, Midway, admitted breaching a supervision requirement by failing to comply with requirements of the licence. He has been jailed for 14 days because of his wilful and persistent failure to comply with requirements.
