Students at Abbots Bromley School are celebrating excellent A-level results with a 100 per cent pass rate. A total of 78 per cent of all exam entries were rewarded with A*-to-C grades and 32 per cent of all grades were A* or A grades.

These results, released today, Thursday, August 17, will see sixth form students from the school embark on further education courses including business management, social work, dance and performing arts, chemistry, biomedical sciences, physiotherapy, economics, music, sport science and pharmacy.

The school's principal, Maggie Shackleton, said: "In addition to these results reflecting many impressive personal achievements, these students have made history by being the first co-educational group to complete their A-levels here.

"Under the leadership of executive head teacher Victoria Musgrave, the school has re-invented itself in recent years and a co-educational sixth form was at the forefront of this.

"All the upper sixth students leave with our very best wishes for the future. Thank you to their families and members of staff for providing support and guidance.

"The results have confirmed our standing of being within the top four per cent of all sixth forms nationally for adding value in A-level performance."

Abbots Bromley School will be holding an open morning on Saturday, September 30 from 9.30am. For the first time, boys will start studying at the formerly all-girls' school in Year 7 from September.
