Shocking CCTV footage of a gang stealing a cash machine from a supermarket in Hatton has been released by police.
The footage shows the gang arrive with a car, a 4x4 towing a trailer and a digger-type machine on Thursday, August 3.
They then use the digger to smash their way into the Nisa shop and drag the cash machine from the wall, before loading it into the trailer and driving off; accompanied by the car.
Officers were sent to the scene immediately and confronted the gang, with one thug throwing a metal bar at officers before they sped off in the vehicles.
Officers began searching for the gang, alerting neighbouring forces to the theft, but so far they have not been caught.
The telehandler machine, which had been stolen from Tutbury, was left at the scene. It has an extending arm which can be used to lift heavy loads. The 4x4, trailer and cash machine were found abandoned in Markfield, Leicestershire, days later.
Witnesses or anyone with information or CCTV footage of the ram-raid is asked to call Derbyshire police on 101 quoting reference 17000330482, or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
