A Royal Mail post box has been out of order for more than a month leading to questions from residents. The box, which is built into a brick pillar in Burton Road, Woodville, has suffered damage and has been taped off by Royal Mail while it awaits a replacement.

However, residents have said not enough is being done to ensure it is brought back into working order. Kevin Hubbard contacted the Burton Mail after claiming he had reported the issue to the Royal Mail more than three months ago.

There is damage to the brick pillar built around the post box

He said: "I reported this to Royal Mail more than three months ago now. The post box is in a dangerous way. Falling down. And all Royal Mail did about it was they came out and put 'closed' sign on it and that was it."

A spokesman for the Royal Mail denied the damage was more than three months old, with a spokesman saying: "Royal Mail can confirm that the brick pillar in which this post box is located was damaged last month.

"We have temporarily sealed this box as a precautionary measure while we liaise with the landowner about replacing the box.

"We apologise to customers for any inconvenience. The notice on the box gives details of the nearest alternative post boxes, or customers can drop their mail off at any Post Office branch."
