Two pals from a Woodville-based building firm have 'pimped their ride' big style to back England as the team prepare to take on Sweden in the crunch quarter-final clash in the World Cup.

Ben Sherriff and Dan Finneran were spotted doing up a friend's van in the car park of Burton Place shopping centre - and they were going to town, with the decked out van sure to turn heads wherever it goes.

The pair, from Ben Sherriff Construction Ltd, High Street, had scoured shop shelves and bought up every England flag and decoration they could get their hands on.

And it didn't end there because they also donned Three Lions shirts, taped large England-style inflatable hands to the wing mirrors of the white Renault Kango white van.

The unique styling also included huge crosses of St George on the vans, bonnet, roof and sides, created with red tape.

They also attached horns so they can drive around Burton getting people well and truly up for the match so they can roar on the team.

Ben, from Woodville, is a self-confessed football fanatic and said he wants nothing more than to see England lift the trophy for the first time since 1966.

The 32-year-old said: "I absolutely live and breathe football. If I could, I'd walk into the pub tonight and not come out until England have won the World Cup.

"I've been football mad since I was a kid and I'm not stopping now!

"We all need to get behind England - sometimes it takes a catalyst like us to get other people doing things.

"Come on England - it's coming home!"

They even wrote It's Coming Home on the windscreen!

Meanwhile his work pal Dan Finneran, 27, from Foston Avenue, Burton , said that while he's not a massive football fan, he's still keen on having a laugh and joining in the spirit of things as the country gets behind Harry Kane and boys after their penalty shoot-out victory over Colombia.

As the duo were decorating the van, they certainly turned heads as other motorists drove past with grins on their faces and egged them on.

Some people even stopped to have a chat with the pair, complimenting them on their creation.

The pair only came up with the idea this morning, but are now ready for a weekend of excitement.

Ben said: "This is actually someone who works for me's van. He has no idea that this is happening! He'll be all right though he loves England.

England will play Sweden on Saturday

"We're going to be driving around Burton and Swadlincote as we're both working all weekend so what better way to get people in the mood for the football?

"We only came up with the idea this morning. We love playing practical jokes on each other and this is what we're doing this time!"

The Leicester City fan added its been incredible to see players from his team representing their country, as both Jamie Vardy and Harry Maguire have seen time on the pitch.

It is clear the football fan truly believes that 2018 is England's year to win the World Cup and even hinted it could be the most important day of his life.

England spirit is well and truly alive

He joked: "I'm so excited! It's going to be a more important day than my kids were born. I can have another kid but I won't ever see this again!"

On Tuesday, celebrations were held in the streets of across the area as fans up and down the country finally saw England win a penalty shoot out to go through the next round.
