Two cows have been pulled from the water of a canal in Staffordshire. Crews from Staffordshire Fire and Rescue were called to Consall, close to Wetley Rocks in Stoke today, July 28 to reports of two cows stranded in the water.

It is not known how the cows got into the canal, but they were unable to get out of the water.

Rescue workers had to use harnesses, rope and a JCB truck to pull the mammals out of the water.

The two cows were rescued from separate areas of the canal in an operation carried out by skilled rescue workers.

The fire service tweeted about the rescue, even sharing a video of one of the cows enjoying some grass after their ordeal.

Both of the cows are doing well after being pulled from the water, and are expected to be mooing again in no time.
