Firefighters were called to a Burton school at the end of the first week back, after a young pupil found himself locked in a toilet cubicle.

Crews from Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service were called to Horninglow Primary Academy, in Horninglow Road North, just after 2.50pm on Friday, September 8, to reports of a young boy locked in a bathroom.

Friendly firefighters from Burton managed to free him quickly and left the primary school 15 minutes later at 3.05pm.

A spokesman from Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service said that fire crews have specialist tools to resolve this kind of incident safely.

School principal Becky Breedon said that the little boy was 'absolutely fine' following the incident, and was only stuck for a matter of minutes.

She said: "One of our locks in the toilets is a little faulty, so he got stuck.

"The fire brigade were amazing. They made sure that he was okay as well."
