Three men have been arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply Class A drugs in Staffordshire.

Staffordshire Police carried out a county-wide operation in a bid to crack down on drug abuse in the area on Wednesday, July 26.

The men, aged 18, 20 and 21 were stopped in Newcastle-under-Lyme with police seizing a large amount of what is believed to be heroin and cocaine.

The 18-year-old is from the Newcastle area, but the 20 and 21 year olds are from the West Midlands.

The three were also driving a grey Volkswagen which had no insurance and was seized.

Elsewhere, two men, aged 30 and 46 have been arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply Class A drugs and possession of a claw hammer.

The pair were stopped on the A34 in Stafford while travelling in a silver Citroen.

The police dogs support unit uncovered a large amount of what is believed to be Class A drugs in the car.

The vehicle was also seized for having no insurance and is being linked to a theft in Stafford on Tuesday, July 25.
