Eagle-eyed motorists may have had to look twice at one particular temporary road sign in Swadlincote which seems to have created a whole new county.
Drivers and residents passing along Darklands Road, Swadlincote, may have noticed a large yellow sign warning for a road closure from 6.30pm to midnight.
However, what they may not have noticed is the sign drawn up by sub-contractors employed by Derbyshire County Council has renamed the authority 'Derbeyshire County Council'.
The misspelt sign, with an extra 'e', reads "Derbeyshire County Council. Road closed here on August 7 For 5 days between 6.30pm and midnight".
An alternative route for motorists is A514 Civic Way, Midland Road, Lower Midland Road, Newhall Road, Darklands Road and vice versa.
Of the spelling error, a spokesman for Derbyshire County Council said: “We’ll be taking this up with our sub-contractors that make the signs and erect them for us."
