A major Swadlincote supermarket closed briefly today after a fire broke out.
The drama happened just after 1pm at the Sainsbury's superstore, in Civic Way, Swadlincote.
A shopper said they saw members of staff from Sainsbury's leaving the store and was told that it was due to a 'small fire'.
A spokesman from Sainsbury's said: "We can confirm there was a minor incident at our Swadlincote store and it was briefly closed. We're sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused."
Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service confirmed that it did attend the fire but it was already out on their arrival and did not have to put out by crews.
A spokesman from the service said: "At 1.12pm the fire service received a called to attend reports of a fire in a cooking unit at a premise on Civic Way, Swadlincote.
"Fire was out upon arrival and no action was taken by fire service personnel."
One shopper, Sally Hiatt spotted the aftermath of incident and told the Burton Mail that: "I didn't see anything to be honest I arrived there as the staff was filing out, and I asked someone what was happening, they said there had been a small fire.
"I parked to wait and see if it would be long before they reopened and the fire engine arrived shortly after. It was still a while after that, that the store opened back up and I decided to go somewhere else at that point."
