Some jaw-dropping outfits were on show at one of the top nights in Uttoxeter Racecourse's social calendar - Ladies' Night.

Thousands of punters were dressed to the nines for the popular annual event, which this year featured an appearance from Only Fools and Horse Star John Challis and a DJ set by former Spice Girl Melanie C.

The man who played Boycie in the famous sitcom posed for pictures next to Del Boy's iconic three-wheel yellow Reliant Robin.

And the pop star spun her favourite records late into the night to a packed dance floor.

Fine fillies enjoyed a late-afternoon card of racing and competed to win the coveted award reserved for the best-dressed reveller.

First place was taken by race-goer Victoria Hartley-Hughes, with Rebecca Beaman coming in third.

Joanne Clay, from To the Nines Boutique in Newcastle, judged the main competition, while Moddershall Oaks marketing manager Alexandra Moody decided who would scoop ‘best hat’.

In second was Crystal Guthrie, from Rolleston-on-Dove, who has placed in the top five over the last three years.

Her bespoke dress, which she designed and her mother-in-law made, impressed the judges.

The 38-year-old said: "I create my own dress every year for Ladies Night, then a few weeks after I put them on Ebay.

"The last four years, I've never spent more than £50 on my outfit. The material for this dress cost me about £30.

"Oh, my bag was from Louis Vuitton at Harrods though – and cost £700."

Ellie Heaton, from Alton, was there celebrating her 21 birthday.

She said: "M shoes have been giving me blisters, but they look pretty and it’s worth it.

"All my friends have come in shades of pink but we didn’t plan it. It's worked out quite well though, we look very coordinated.”"

Uttoxeter Racecourse will host its next Ladies' Day on July 27, where Gok Wan will be DJ-ing.
