A prime spot on Skegness seafront could be turned into a white-knuckle experience.

A bid has been made to build a 70-foot high wire facility near the town's popular main beach.

The Skegness Pool and Leisure Centre site in Grand Parade would be open all year round.

If given the go-ahead the attraction will be unique to the area and “bring new life and vitality to the area and enhance Skegness” say applicants Magna Vitae, reports Lincolnshire Live .

“Magna Vitae are focused on achieving higher levels of participants and visitors to the area and recreational facilities,” they state in an application to East Lindsey District Council.

The high wire would be open all year around as opposed to just in the peak months.

The application continues: “The proposed high wire structure will provide an eye catching, innovative attraction for visitors that can be seen from a distance.

“It will be a feature from the sea front.

"The structure is located and orientated to take advantage of the clear views of the site from the adjacent busy road and pedestrian network.”

As well as providing an all year round attraction to visitors, Magna Vitae also wants to encourage people into a more active lifestyle.

The site currently houses a nearby kiosk with timber lean-to, which could be converted into an internal seating area with cafe and reception.

The application also includes plans to use part of the leisure centre as offices and storage for the high wire.

Anyone wanting to comment on the application can do so by contacting East Lindsey District Council before July 7.
