A 47-year-old man has been jailed after spitting at a woman in the presence of a child.
Gavin Lockley, of South Lodge Mews, Midway has been locked up for 38 weeks after he appeared at Southern Derbyshire Magistrates' Court.
He admitted using a car in Mercian Way, Derby, on November 4, without insurance. He also admitted assaulting a woman in Swadlincote on June 1; breaching a restraining order by contacting the woman in Swadlincote on June 1; and breaching the same restraining order by sending text messages on June 3.
Lockley has been jailed for 38 weeks because magistrates heard the assault included spitting, there was a child present, offences were committed while on bail and he was the subject of a community order.
He was also ordered to abide by a restraining order until further notice. He was ordered to pay £100 compensation and a £115 victim surcharge, and has been banned from driving for 11 months.

Admitted possession of 6.25 grams of cannabis in Burton on February 20.
Fined £245 and ordered to pay £85 court costs and a £30 victim surcharge.
