People heading to Burton are warned to allow extra time for journeys due to the closure of St Peter's Bridge.

The bridge linking Stapenhill to the town has only been closed for two weeks and has been causing chaos. It is set to be closed for three months until the end of November while essential repair work is carried out.

This morning, Tuesday, September 12, drivers are experiencing delays at the A444 St Peter's Street, Stapenhill, between the A5189 St Peter's Bridge and Main Street and the A511 Ashby Road, at Winshill.

There is also heavy traffic on the A511 Burton Road, in Woodville, in both directions around the A513 Harshorne Road and the B5004 Moira Road at the New Inn roundabout.

In Willington there are delays on the A5132 in both directions around the B5008 Repton Road due to temporary traffic lights in operation.

In Uttoxeter there are delays on the eastbound carriageway of the A50 due to roadworks in the area. There are delays around the B5030 Ashbourne Road at the Little Chef roundabout as one lane has been closed.

At Stanton by Bridge there are delays on the A514 in both directions around the B587. There is slow traffic in both directions.
