A teenager who was the subject of a police appeal after a £4,600 watch was stolen from a house in Hartshorne has avoided an immediate jail sentence.
Liam Mitchell, 18, of Darklands Road, Swadlincote, appeared at Southern Derbyshire Magistrates' Court.
He indicated a plea of guilty to entering as a trespasser to an address in Elmsdale Road, Hartshorne, on May 25. It was there he stole a £4,600 watch.
He also indicated a plea of guilty to entering as a trespasser to an address in Hall Farm Road, Swadlincote, on May 26, after clambering in through an open window and stealing a purse containing £16 in cash.
Mitchell later attended Derby Crown Court on July 11 and was made the subject of a 10-month jail sentence suspended for 24 months.
He will also carry out 80 hours unpaid work and was ordered to pay a £140 victim surcharge.
