A hotel in Branston is hoping to remove travellers from its car park after they set up camp yesterday, Wednesday, August 23. The group up pitched at the Riverside Hotel and remain at the site today.

An eyewitness claimed that two caravans are still on site at the hotel which is situated in Riverside Drive, in the village.

A spokesman for the Riverside Hotel said: "Two caravans arrived in one of our car parks yesterday afternoon and have remained there since without permission.

"We have begun the necessary legal steps to have them removed which we hope will be later this afternoon. The pub is open as usual as we look to minimise any disruption to our guests."

The news came in just an hour after travellers were removed from Second Avenue in Branston. It is not known if the travellers are the same ones evicted from the site on Centrum 100.

Travellers pitched up in a car park in Second Avenue, Branston

This is the fourth time this month that travellers have been spotted near Burton.

Only last week travellers were forced to move on after pitching up on the lawns to the front the Hotel Mercure Burton upon Trent Newton Park, in Newton Solney, after arriving at around 8pm on Wednesday, August 16.

On Wednesday, August 2, a group of travellers moved on to the car park at Branston Golf and Country Club, in Burton Road, Branston.

Travellers who pitched up in Second Avenue were being monitored by Brit Sec, a Burton based security firm

The group arrived at the site and parked two caravans in the car park, but were told by the club that they were going to issue them with a court order forcing them to move on.

Staff at the venue used a digger to block off the entrance to prevent any other caravans from entering the site and the travellers later blocked the entrance to the car park, stopping anyone from entering or leaving the club's grounds.
