A collision between a car and a van has left one person trapped in Measham.

The incident was first reported just before 2pm today with emergency services - Leicestershire Police, East Midlands Ambulance Service and Leicestershire Fire and Rescue - all in attendance.

The road remains open, however emergency services are still at the scene and traffic is believed to be affected.

The two vehicles involved have been described as a van and a Renault Clio. There are three people involved, however all of their injuries have been described minor, and not life threatening.

East Midlands Ambulance Service is believed to currently stabilising one of the people involved ahead of extraction.

Road cleared

Leicestershire Police confirm that the road now appears to be clear.

They report that a highways team is now on site clearing fluid from the road.

One patient taken to hospital

A spokesman from East Midlands Ambulance Service said: “We received a call at 14:16 to an incident on Leicester Road, Measham. The caller reported a road traffic collision involving two vehicles.

“We sent two double crewed ambulances and worked closely on scene with Leicestershire Fire and Rescue. One patient was taken to Leicester Royal Infirmary for further care.”

Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service report they were called to the incident at 2.39pm. They describe it as an road traffic collision involving one van and one car, where one person is trapped.

Leicestershire Police statement

A spokesman from Leicestershire Police has confirmed that all three injuries are believed to be minor.

They said: “We were called at 1.48pm to reports of a two vehicle collision, involving a car and a van. “We attended with East Midlands Ambulance Service and fire. Involved was a Renault Clio and a van.

“There are three minor injuries, one person, the driver from the van. The road is not closed.”
