Uttoxeter's finest fillies are gearing up for one of the highlights of the town's social calender - and the chance to meet one of UK comedy's most-treasured actors.

John Challis, the man who played Boycie in Only Fools and Horses, will be at Ladies' Night at Uttoxeter Racecourse on Thursday, June 14.

He is a special guest at the occasion, which will get under way at around 4pm.

A post on the Wood Lane course's Facebook page reads: "Marlene … fetch the Jaguar - we're off to Uttoxeter Racecourse!"

"We are really excited that Only Fools and Horses star John Challis - Boycie - will be doing an exclusive meet and greet on Ladies' Night on the June 14.

"Racegoers will be able to have their photos with him with next to Del Boy's car."

And later in the evening, pop lovers will get the chance to dance the night away to a DJ set by Sporty Spice herself - Mel C.

The 1990s 'girl power' pioneer and Spice Girls singer will take to the decks to spin her favourite tunes to bring the night home.

A racecourse spokesman said: "Well we have what we really want, none other than Melanie C AKA Sporty Spice to DJ live after racing.

"Melanie will take to the decks to spin big hits with a party vibe to top off what will be yet another amazing day.

"As part of the biggest girl band the world has ever known, Melanie C is a household name all over the planet.

"Since then Melanie has gone on to have her own amazingly successful solo pop and theatre career.

"So dress to impress for the highlight of the Staffordshire social calendar and dance the night away long after the sun sets to tunes spun by the BIGGEST name to ever hit Ladies Night, Melanie C.

Who is Mel C?

Melanie Jayne Chisholm, born January 12, 1974, better known as "Mel C", is an English singer, songwriter, entrepreneur, actress and television personality.
