Uttoxeter Racecourse is in the running for a top tourism accolade at a leading awards ceremony.

The leading race and events venue has been nominated in the Retail, Leisure, Culture and Tourism category of the Staffordshire Chambers Business Awards 2018.

A Chambers of Commerce spokesman said: "Uttoxeter Racecourse’s shortlisting is recognition of the very highest standards on which the venue prides itself.

"With its friendly welcome, wide variety of eateries, easy accessibility, and modern and engaging facilities, Uttoxeter offers one of the finest race day experiences in the land, as well as staging numerous special family and music events.

"With festivals, weddings, parties, and conference facilities, it has become a key component of the county's year-round culture and tourism offer, bringing tens of thousands of visitors to the area every year."

Course executive director David MacDonald said: "We never stop in seeking to make Uttoxeter Racecourse the absolute best visitor experience it can be.

Staffordshire Chambers of Commerce's annual awards, to be staged at a ceremony at Staffordshire County Showground on July 5.

The event will showcase the achievements, success stories and outstanding performance of Staffordshire's best businesses, and are a highlight of the business year.
