A warning has been issued after concerns were raised about a man selling televisions from the back of a white van.

Derbyshire police received several reports of a man offering the televisions for sale from his van in South Derbyshire and are now asking members of the public to report his whereabouts. The incidents happened over the weekend, February 3 and February 4.

A post on Twitter by Swadlincote Safer Neighbourhood Team revealed that one victim who purchased a television later found it to be broken.

The tweet said: "Several reports of a male offering Samsung televisions for sale from the rear of a van across South Derbyshire. If not #Stolen One victim found TV broken when he returned home. If you come across this male, please pass vehicle details to @SwadlincoteSNT on 101."

A spokesman for Derbyshire Police said that the televisions were being offered for sale from the back of a white Ford Transit van.

The spokesman said: "Service stations car parks in Egginton and Willington are two of the locations that have been reported to us.

"We would like to talk to the people responsible so would ask that members of the public that see this happening again call us on 101."
