X Factor judges will be just up the road in Derby next month hoping to winkle out the talent for the next series of the hit ITV talent show.

This could be your shot at the big time, an opportunity to take a step on the hard road to superstardom.

It is possible to apply online but where's the fun in that? Besides, everyone who turns up on the day is guaranteed an audition.

So, if you believe you have the kind of voice that would impress the judges, it's time to start selecting a song or penning one yourself and polishing your performance until it shines like a new pin.

The open auditions will be held at the University of Derby Students' Union at the Kedleston Road campus on Friday, May 11, from 11am to 5pm.

The show launched the careers of One Direction, Little Mix and Leona Lewis and is one tried-and-tested route to stardom.

Anyone under the age of 14 is not allowed to audition but that just gives you more time to hone your vocal skills.

Those under the age of 18 need to bring valid identification and have a parent or guardian with them.
