Emergency services were at the scene of a serious crash on the M1 between a coach and an HGV.

The accident happened on the southbound carriageway between Junction 23 for Loughborough and Junction 22 for the A50 and Coalville.

Highways England said one of three lanes was been closed while the incident was being dealt with.

One person was taken to the Queen’s Medial Centre in Nottingham with non-life-threatening injuries

ANOTHER crash has happened on the M1

Traffic information company Inrix is saying there has been ANOTHER crash on the M1 near Junction 23.

The firm says TWO LANES are closed on the M1 northbound following another crash to have taken place this afternoon.

One lane is still closed on the southbound junction following a collision between a lorry and a coach.

Statement from Leicestershire Police

This just in from Leicestershire Police.

A spokesman said: “We were called just before 11.40am to reports of a collision between two vehicles on the southbound carriageway of the M1 just before Junction 23.

“On arrival we found there to be a collision between a coach and a HGV. We attended along with the fire service and the East Midlands Ambulance Service.

“One person has been taken to the Queen’s Medial Centre in Nottingham with non-life-threatening injuries.”

Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service say the accident involves a lorry and a bus.

The emergency service says one person will be transported to hospital.

An update they have provided reads: “Ambulance and Police on scene.

“Coalville’s Appliance and Technical Rescue crews stood down on route. Road Traffic Collision involving one Lorry and one Bus, No persons trapped.

“One casualty being treated by East Midlands Ambulance Service and will transported to hospital. Fire Service made both vehicles safe.”

Highways England extend estimate time for road to clear

Highways England say the M1 accident between Junctions 23 and 22 is now not expected to clear until 1.45pm at the latest.

East Midlands Airport has issued out this warning due to heavy traffic near the premises.

Queues are FOUR MILES long

Traffic queues on the M1 southbound are roughly 4 miles long as emergency services deal with the crash.

Delays likely for next hour

Highways England say the crash is not expected to clear until about 1.15pm.

Though this can change depending on the severity of the accident.
