The first floor of a former Swadlincote post office is set to become a series of flats after plans were approved.

The empty post office building, in Market Street, is next door to the Nisa convenience store which took over the retail part of the post office building at the time it closed a few years ago. The first floor is also standing empty having previously been used as office space.

Now, an application has been approved by South Derbyshire District Council's planning department to turn the first floor into a series of flats.

Applicant K Joshi, of Littleover, has applied for permission for a change of use of the first-floor from offices to flats. The development will create three first-floor one-bedroom flats.

Swadlincote post office is one of many former Post Office buildings which have been, or have plans to be, turned into homes.
