A shed fire in Burton which spread causing damage to two others and a motorbike, firefighters have have said.

An electrical fault caused the blaze at a shed in Bank Walk, Horninglow, at around 9.40am on Monday, July 9, which quickly spread to two other sheds, a nearby fence and a motorbike.

Nearby gas cannisters were thought to have been involved in the fire initially, but these were later found to to have survived.

A man and woman suffered smoke inhalation and the woman was treated by paramedics.

The fire was caused by an electrical fault and now fire chiefs are urging anyone who has an electric supply outside of their home to make sure it is checked by a professional.

A spokesman for Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "If you have electricity in your outbuildings were they installed by a qualified electrician or have you had them checked by one?

"If not we'd strongly recommend doing so or you could end up with a scene like this.

"This shed fire was found to have been caused by an electrical fault in the middle shed.

It destroyed one shed and also involved two other sheds, fencing, gas canisters and a motorbike."

Nobody was injured in the fire but a man and a woman did suffer smoke inhalation and were given oxygen by firefighters and the woman was checked over by paramedics at the scene.
