Commuters are being warned of delays after a three car accident left a lane blocked on a busy route.

The road traffic accident which happened on the A514 southbound near to the B587 at 4.14pm is causing problems for drivers using the route to the A50 J3 for Swadlincote and Melbourne.

Derbyshire police have advised people to avoid the bridge from both directions after it resulted in heavy traffic between Swarkestone and Stanton by Bridge.

Nobody was injured in the accident.

Elsewhere in Burton and South Derbyshire, a number of roadworks are also giving motorists headaches.

Drivers using the A511 Ashby Road in Winshill are being warned of delays as slow traffic continues to build up in the roadworks area around Alexandra Road.

Further slow traffic and roadworks are causing other problems at the A512 Ashby Road / A42 J13 for Ashby and Coalville.
