A group of travellers are believed to have set up camp in the grounds of the Riverside Hotel in Branston this afternoon.

An eyewitness claimed that staff are stopping people from entering the premises and two caravans are on site at the Riverside Hotel on Riverside Drive, Branston.

The news came in just an hour after travellers were removed from Second Avenue in Branston. It is not yet known if the travellers are the same ones evicted from the site on Centrum 100.

Only last week travellers were forced to move on after pitching up on the lawns of the Hotel Mercure Burton upon Trent Newton Park, in Newton Road, Newton Solney, after arriving at around 8pm on Wednesday, August 16.

This is the fourth time this month that travellers have been spotted near Burton.

On Wednesday, August 2, a group of travellers moved on to the car park at Branston Golf and Country Club, Burton Road, Branston.

The group arrived at the site and parked two caravans in the car park, but were told by the club that they were going to issue them with a court order forcing them to move on.

Staff at the venue used a digger to block off the entrance to prevent any other caravans from entering the site and the travellers later blocked the entrance to the car park, stopping anyone from entering or leaving the club's grounds.
