Travellers have set up camp in the car park at Branston Golf and Country Club. The group are reported to have arrived at the site at 1pm and were swiftly reported to police. There are currently two caravans parked up on the site.

A spokesperson for Branston Golf and Country Club said: “They arrived at about 1pm and we’re making every possible move to get them shifted as soon as possible. The police have been involved and we’ve blocked the entrance to anybody entering the site.”

It comes after a large group of travellers were praised by council bosses for cleaning up after themselves following their eviction from parkland in Stapenhill last month.

The travellers parked up on the council land, off Waterside Road, and were told they faced court action if they failed to leave the site after staying there for one week.

After leaving, they were praised for filling black bin bags with their rubbish which had been handed to them by East Staffordshire Borough Council.

The Group, believed to be from France, was spotted on the council land and promoted passers-by to contact the Burton Mail after spotting a group of at least seven caravans arriving on Monday, June 26.
