Emojis are now part of everyday communication - and the range on offer just got a little bit bigger from today.

For the first time ever ginger emojis are now available - marking a huge celebration within the red-headed community.

The new flame-haired icons are now available on phones across the world, reports Wales Online.

Before today existing emojis consisted of blonde, brunette and black hair characters.

But now ginger people can have their very own emoji to use following a long campaign to get them installed.

The move was confirmed by the Unicode Consortium in February after years of calls from emoji lovers to branch out the existing range of icons.

And, as you might expect, the decision has gone down a storm on social media with people in the East Midlands over the moon.

Other new emojis also available include cakes, superheroes, bagels, toilet paper, kangaroos and llamas.

But not all the symbols will be available at once, as some platforms like Apple's iOS and Google's Android will have to adopt the collection first before eager redheads can get their hands on them.
