Officers arrived on on "blues and twos" an incident because an 11-year-old girl "kicked off" because she wasn't allowed to watch Love Island.

The girl's reaction prompted an emergency response from Leicestershire Police and a statement from Market Bosworth Police on Facebook, said "an 11-year-old girl kicked off because she wasn't allowed to watch Love Island".

The statement added: "Due to the information passed by the caller, this was risk assessed and graded as a 'grade one' - which means they attended as an emergency on blues and twos."

Many reacted on social media with derision and sarcasm following the call out.

A few, however, proposed scenarios which could justify the call, our sister title Leicestershire Live reports.

One sympathiser said: "Nobody knows the true details of how badly the child kicked off and how scared the parents were and if there were any underlying issues before everyone starts to judge."

Love Island

A spokeswoman for Leicestershire Police said: "An emergency call was received just after 9.10pm on Wednesday, reporting a public disorder incident at an address in Coalville.

"Due to concerns raised in the emergency call, including mentions of violence and the caller hanging up, a grade one response was authorised.

"Officers attended the incident and inquiries were carried out.

"No arrests were made and no significant injuries were reported."

A grade one response means an emergency response, where vehicles head with their flashing lights and sirens on.

Love Island has attracted massive audience figures so far this season.

The first episode pulled in around five million viewers, a new record for ITV2.
