A 20% price increase has been added to the 'Dine in for Two' meal deal by Marks and Spencer.

The popular store is now charging £12 for the main, side, desert in drink instead of the £10 they used to charge.

Customers used used to enjoy steak, seabass and a choice of wines but these luxuries have all been removed in the meal deal revamp.

The reaction from customers to these changes has been raw.

Customers took to social media to moan about the price increase and the menu change, The Daily Mirror reports.

Marks and Spencer make changes to their meal deal

Brenda Beech said: "I was very disappointed to see the 'Dine In' deal had gone up £2 from the usual £10.

"There are normally crowds of people around the 'Dine In' shelves looking at the different offers, but there was hardly anyone yesterday because of the price increase."

Felicity Blackman added: "Really disappointing menu with hardly any choice especially as you have increased the price.

"Don't think I will bother this week."

The chain announced this week it has 'upgraded' the deal, which will now cost £12. M&S say the price hike is to allow them to include prosecco and mains such as a whole rotisserie chicken and chicken and ham en croute.

But options such as steak and seabass were no longer options for customers.

An M&S spokesperson said: "Our £10 meal deals aren't going away, and with this being a new offer, we really appreciate all feedback and our Food Team will be keeping a close eye on what's popular and what needs working on.

"With it being £12 now, we can have prosecco and more wines available in the offer, as well as gluten free and vegetarian options in this deal available in their respective aisles."

Rival supermarket ASDA launched their new 'Dine in for 2 for £10' just a couple of weeks ago.

This deal includes a main, side, desert and drink chosen from a selection of ASDA's extra special range.

Steak, paella and spinach and ricotta cannelloni are among the options for the main course.

Although there is no option of prosecco, there is choice of two different red wines, two white, one rose and or beer.

The uproar from M&S shoppers comes at a difficult time for the store as there has been a drop in profits, bonuses for executives have been blocked and one in three core clothing and home stores is scheduled to disappear from the high street within four years.
