Ryanair flights from the East Midlands to a range of European destinations could be cancelled next week as nearly 50,000 customers nationwide are affected.

The budget airline has been forced to cancel 600 flights over two days next week due to ongoing aircrew stikes.

On Wednesday July 25 and Thursday July 26 flights to the likes of Belgium, Spain and Portugal will be cancelled, affecting 12% of Ryanair routes.

A full list of cancellations has not been released, so all customers flying with the airline from East Midlands Airport are being advised to check.

Ryanair say they "deeply regret" pulling the flights and say that customers have been offered re-accommodation on alternative flights over the seven days prior to Wednesday and Thursday.

Ryanair customers could face flight cancellations.

They are also being offered full refunds if they choose not to take different routes, The Mirror Online reports.

Breaking down next week's cancellations - up to 200 of 830 flights going to and from Spain are now cancelled.

The same goes for up to 50 of 180 flights going to and from Portugal, and up to 50 of 160 flights to and from Belgium.

Ryanair's Kenny Jacobs said: "Ryanair sincerely apologises to our customers for these disruptions which we have done our utmost to avoid.

"Given that Ryanair cabin crew enjoy great pay-up to EUR40,000 p.a. (in countries with high youth unemployment) - industry leading rosters (14 days off each month), great sales commissions, uniform allowances and sick pay, these strikes are entirely unjustified and will achieve nothing other than to disrupt family holidays, and benefit competitor airlines in Belgium, Portugal and Spain.

"All affected customers have been contacted by email and SMS text message earlier today and we will re-accommodate or refund all of those whose flights have been disrupted."
