Brewers midfielder Jackson Irvine has dismissed rumours of a Brighton and Hove Albion bid for him after reports emerged last weekend of the Seagulls' rumoured interest.

"I haven't heard anything anyway, and I think if I haven't heard anything about it then it's probably not going to be happening just yet" he told Australian public broadcaster SBS.

"It's a long window and you deal with anything as and when it crops up.

"But I'll be going back to Burton - we have made some good signings in recent weeks and we'll see what happens."

We understand that Albion received no bid from Brighton for Irvine.

Michael Kightly is in talks with Southend United about a move back to Essex, Shrimpers boss Phil Brown has revealed.

Kightly enjoyed a productive loan spell with Albion last term after joining on a temporary basis in January, notching four goals in 12 games on the way to Championship survival.

"I've held talks with Michael and he's making noises about wanting to come back to the area which is his home," Brown told the Southend Echo.

"We've moved the deal closer, but he has a couple of big offers from elsewhere which we're competing against."

Stephen Warnock has insisted that his relegation from the Championship with Wigan Athletic last season can help him and his new teammates learn how to avoid a similar fate this time around.

The ex-Liverpool defender signed with the club last month after his contract with the Latics expired, and has added experience to the back-line alongside former Derby County and Wigan team-mate Jake Buxton.

"The one thing you will find with myself and Bucko is that we are no-nonsense defenders and we understand the game," said Warnock.

"I'm not saying we weren't part of the reason we got relegated last year, because there were probably games where we might not have done as well.

"But we have got to learn from the experience of getting relegated last season, come into Burton and try to help the team progress forward."

Brewers fans will be waiting in anticipation to see who will become the sixth signing of a so-far successful transfer window.

SportMail has had a look at where Albion may still be looking to strengthen as the days tick away before the start of the 2017/18 Championship season.

It's a conundrum that leaves us all on tenterhooks - what transfer tricks does Clough have up his sleeve?

Burton have confirmed ticket prices for their first friendly of a hectic pre-season schedule against Kidsgrove Athletic.

The Brewers travel to the Novus Stadium on Wednesday July 12 (7.30pm kick-off), in the first of 10 pre-season friendlies this summer.

Admittance for adults against the Athletic will cost £8, while concessions and members of the armed forces can get in for £5.

Under 16s get into the Brewers' first pre-season game free of charge. Albion fans cannot buy tickets in advance but can pay on the turnstiles at the Novus Stadium.
