Burton Albion's on-loan striker Joe Mason couldn't have wished for a better start after equalising against Sheffield Wednesday just 30 seconds into his Brewers debut.

Mason's 65th-minute strike earnt dogged Albion a well-deserved point against the Owls, who opened the scoring against the run of play after 36 minutes through Gary Hooper's superbly-executed back-heel.

And Mason, the Brewers' man-of-the-hour after he swivelled on the spot to fire home past Keiren Westwood, got off the mark in the finest style possible as Burton made it three games unbeaten in all competitions.

Out of favour at parent club Wolves, Mason has taken the plunge and joined a side expecting to be battling relegation again after joining on Wednesday and has already set out to prove what the Molineux side are missing.

And what will surely please manager Nigel Clough the most is the belief that Mason had in himself that he could come on and get himself a debut goal after already witnessing several chances go begging.

"I couldn't have dreamed of a better start for myself, said a delighted Mason post-match.

"Obviously we'd have liked to have won the game today, I thought we had enough chances to do it, butt we'll take the point.

"I did want to come on today and get a goal. I thought there were chances in the game and I thought when I was coming on I would get a chance and luckily I could take it.

"It was just instinctive. I didn't really have time to think about it, just make sure I've got a good connection on it and it was nice to see it go in.

"That's what i want to do here, score as many goals as possible.

"I'm the sort of striker that likes to be in and around of the box, thats where i get most of my goals and hopefully i can get a few more."
