David Templeton will not make his first appearance in a Burton Albion shirt in tonight's pre-season friendly at Mickleover Sports.

The new Brewers winger - who signed a two-year deal last week - is carrying a niggle and will miss the clash with John McGrath's Sports, the first of five friendly fixtures for Albion's senior side before their League One campaign begins at home to Rochdale on August 4.

John Brayford has also been ruled out of the Mickleover game, which will be used primarily to give players a first test of their fitness after two weeks of pre-season training work.

Will Miller is unlikely to feature in any of Albion's early pre-season games, having suffered a setback in his return from a long-term knee injury by suffering a hamstring problem.

Nigel Clough is set to use two separate XIs in the match, with one playing in each half.

While Templeton will be absent, Scott Fraser is expected to make his first outing as a Burton player, while trialists Luke McCormick and Elliott Hodge could also feature.
